Joyful Glance

take
the time
to observe the
great blue heron resting
there

use
binoculars to
view the bird
resting in the sun;
now

keep
that beautiful
detailed image as
a one of nature’s
gifts

Joseph’s Star (with words)
this hour

sleep
restorative only if
one can actually get
settled in that blissful and calming state
I would perhaps be there now if
you were actually home
resting right beside
me

Just Karma 11 for June 2015 wp

Just Karma 11

summer (shhh) solstice

the longest day; there
on the window short lived bug
the unique mayfly rests, still
quieter yet lay
those entombed, stone markers scar
a dreamless green resting place

Note: I actually visited the cemetery first…
…don’t think I’d ever seen a mayfly so close.

A single Sedoka has six lines,
and the syllable count is 5,7,7,5,7,7

Note: the heron must have been a tad curious too, because later in the day
he came into my yard (I saw through my window) – maybe looking for me?
