warm at ten
(three haiku)

single daffodil
brilliant yellow brings delight
to a little girl

good weather brings out
the neighbors; babies, dogs;
we stop, say ‘hello’

time for soap bubbles
Little Miss makes magic too;
rainbow circles pop

Joy in Opportunity to Serve

Jonas the blizzard
has shut down most of the city
and schools for a second day –
While it might be impossible to know
every neighbor…it was nice to see how ours
helped and continue to help
each other during this trying time.
*
Even in the drizzle, fighting night crusted snow –
the neighbor chiseled more waist high snow from the sidewalk
that by law must be clear…

Joy in Helping Hands

When helping neighbors
dig out from the blizzard –
(known as Jonas ‘16)
take all the time needed
to work together to clear
the path

(Over twenty four inches in twenty four hours
this will be a slow melt…
Possibility for more on Thursday.)

Humor Me… 12.31

Humor Me… 12.31

just a tad funny
that we travel
so far from home
to find (relatively anyway…)
our neighbors.

met a bunch of folks
from our part of the great north

all of us will now take
our collective memories
and have ‘them’ help
sustain us through
the rest of the winter

at the airport full of arrivals and
full of departures…no regrets

we are all net ‘neighbors’
(relatively) -those of us ‘here’
sharing the ether cresting waves
to you and yours all the best
in the New Year of 2015.

“What we do…”

http://ididnthavemyglasseson.com/2014/08/02/what-we-do-is-less-than-a-drop-in-the-ocean-but-if-it-were-missing-the-ocean-would-lack-something-mother-teresa/

“What We Do…”
I
Sometimes you have to make a mess in the kitchen
to make date bread mix with added blueberries and
chocolate nibs, and use the tomatoes that the neighbor
left on your front door to mix with the sale store bought
veggies and the veggies from the farm co-op to make
a yummy soup that will stick to your ribs – hot or cold
that you can share with them in friendship.
II
And sometimes you have to use a net to capture a Monarch
from the front yard so you can release it safely in the back
away from contaminated plants that have inhaled exhaust –
so they can land on your neighbors butterfly bush because
they are still too frightened to land on yours…
III
Sometimes you have trap a baby mole that is just about
the size of your thumb – like a moth under a cup with a
piece of cardboard and take him down to the creek about
sixty five yards away from the house where he might just
burrow under the rocks and forget about digging under
your porch…
IV
And sometimes that’s all a prose poem is; things that
have happened that you want to remember – but you
know that you can’t keep a diary worth a darn and the
only way you’ll remember and maybe inspire someone
else is to stick your observances and accomplishments
down and maybe let the words come out of the dark and
see day light…
V
I’m not looking for gold stars, or brownie points – just
thinking about life and sharing it the best way I know how.

Note: A bit longer that usual – think of it as five drops.
Thanks Beth.
