Observing 17
Spring Greys
(mini haibun)

Oh where be the Green O’spring
(Just three days from the starting line)?
The flock of red breasted robins have returned
Looking for safe purchase in the hedge
Their internal clocks say it’s time to build nests!
Both bush and tree seems to remain barren –
If there were buds, they’ve been squirreled away!
They play King of the Hill on ‘white’ mounds of snow!
Even the Red Wing blackbirds have gathered in groups

Yellow dawning sun
Rises in the crisp blue sky;
colorless cold chills

resonance

lazy white clouds scuttle
across a blue atmosphere;
seen through green tree leaves

taming the junk and antiques
more floor space and ground is found

papers from years past
become stray musical chords
for the earth to play

Shell on Tar Beach

Catbird lost an egg, a gift on my drive
Little Miss and I found while watering my
container gardens.

Size between the robin and bluebirds
eggs – a dark green blue color. Really hard
to tell by looking at posters on the net.

Another shell to wash and rinse and fill
With glue for Son of Son – to add to the
other two…natural wonders.

Though the egg might also have be
another robin’s egg…for in the hedge row
Robin mother bird sat when I went looking…

Only to scold me for getting too close!
I peeked in the nest that she briefly left –
To draw me away, to see three blue eggs.

Gray Catbird

When on the second link drag (right side)the nest and
egg image sidebar all the way down to see the best
image of what I found.
I know I have seen Catbirds at my bird feeder.

Finishing the Course

I am now close to the home stretch
as a horse is
one to finish
a race, I am

I have traveled well worn routes
as a horse has
gone on ovals
or circle tracks

I long for familiar green grass
…local horses…
‘blue’ has been nice
but home calls me

summer (shhh) solstice

the longest day; there
on the window short lived bug
the unique mayfly rests, still
quieter yet lay
those entombed, stone markers scar
a dreamless green resting place

…don’t think I’d ever seen a mayfly so close.

ik 45 for March 2015 wp

ik 45
for 3.10 March 2015

looking for a green
carpet, though – so to will be
the worms as they wake

feeling the air with my face
my ears hear lively bird song

too soon from deep sleep
all the bugs shall wake – wing things
and multi-footed

no matter, no boots to wear
nor woolie socks, my feet bare

shall walk on sky blue
with white patchwork cotton clouds
as I rest outdoors

Karma is cause and effect. Dharma means cosmic law.
Yoga is enlightenment through movement and Tao is the
practice of acting in harmony with the fundamental essence
of everything you encounter.

Note: my haiku (or other forms) are my interpretations
or of how I might put the inspirational sentence
into practice, for me. Also, I am going in my own order.

11.19 haiku series: …until… (two prompts)

11.19 haiku series: …until… (two prompts)

once green the chestnut
at dusk is withered; brown, gone,
buried by squirrel

dawns’ balloon sun hides
in the chill of this winter
fifteen degree – morn

layer your clothing
huddle in the crowd, stay warm
until blossoms bloom
