Spring View?
(katuata (count-type) pieces)
*
long shadows looming
over the crisp field of snow
proves that the moon is shining
*
bitter cold creates
delays for schools and commutes
rearranging schedule starts
*
boulders line the roads
of the wintry mix that was
once known as Snowstorm Stella

Observing 4
Spring in Their Steps
(mini haibun with haiku)

The bit of snow not melted from the first
Little piffile puff spat of frozen flakes
Left a white tree shadow on the lawn ~
Cold weather, shadows, did not bother
The woodpecker at the feeder.

Along with some other birdland friends
They only flutter flew briefly disturbed
When I braved the elements to do a quick
Refill of black oil sunflower seeds – I
Had to go back twice to fill my scoop.

a window watcher ~
on days when the weather turns
cold enough to freeze…

Note: not my backyard. But I do live in PA, USA, so
some of the other birds in the video also visit my feeder.

freezing frisson?
(tau ku, pi ku, haiku, pi ku, tau ku)

amid this and that (cold
I still
shiver) weather fractures records

singing a
(love)
song; ode to spring

Sweet William’s budding
in the middle of winter;
facing fog or frost

singing a
(dirge)
hymn; pray for warmth

amid this and that (cold
my hands,
fingers) wrap around warm brewed tea

turbulence
(pi ku, haiku, tau ku)

schism, shifted
throat
scratchy, too cold
*
weather changes quick
winter plays with light; shadow
creeps across the snow
*
pounding head, stuffed nose, sick?
fever?
no, just pass the tissues box, please.

Just Karma 219
(tau ku, pi ku pair/set)

fall variations

bare skin exposed, soaking
up the
warm rays of the sun; gentle breeze

blossoms sway
bright
color pathways

*
steel grey cold sky blocks stars
too brief
the wind rests its northern ice breath

November
plays
an odd autumn

Cold silver
Slowly setting; moon
In the east

Joyful Activity

take a walk
even when it is cold
notice the life that lives
(animals that creep or fly)
notice things, seek to see
even when it is cold
take a walk

Karma is cause and effect. Dharma means cosmic law.
Yoga is enlightenment through movement and Tao is the
practice of acting in harmony with the fundamental essence
of everything you encounter.

Note: My haiku (or other forms) are my interpretations
or of how I might put the inspirational sentence
into practice, for me. Also, I am going in my own order.
