Stir Crazy?
(a haibun)

One batter, split
For oatmeal cookies
He wanted cranberries and mini coco chips
She only wanted the chocolate

There was enough to send home
A bag for him, a bag for her
(to share with Mommy and Daddy)
And some extra for the neighbor

A long day soon to end –
Started with a walk
As well as ended with one.
And now I’m done in…

I did learn though
That this was the one-hundredth day
That I’ve been with my exercise ‘program’
And received some bonus points

where have I been and
where shall I go – to the moon
and maybe I’ll return

(My ‘program’ is mainly just walking – since starting almost at the beginning of April I’ve logged 2,005,247 steps, climbed 3454 floors (or have gone up steep inclines – the hills in my neighborhood or actual stair flights), and have traversed 850.4 miles.)

Flash Fiction = Fiction or non… Longer Strands = longer verse

Observing 31 Unexpected 2
Unexpected Service

I made the effort to mail a package
That should have been mailed, well last week.

I told the recipient it would most likely be late,
Delayed because of more than one thing…

But mostly due to a few aches and pains –
Getting in and out of the car…uncomfortable

The clerk said it would arrive on time – but
One never knows… and that’s the bonus.

For a little remembrance of ‘your’ day –
From my coastline to yours

Ik 381
patience; a virtue
( haibun)

Today’s gift from Old Mother Willow; several butterflies,
damselfly and assorted bugs. The bonus; a pair of
playful otter swimming across the creek and climbing
up the homemade wooden fence as seen through
a pair of binoculars – from where I sat barely breathing.

Otter delightful
swimming, climbing to and fro;
summer afternoon

you can do almost anything.

practice of acting in harmony with the fundamental essence
of everything you encounter.

Note: My haiku (or other forms) are my interpretations
or of how I might put the inspirational sentence
into practice, for me. Also, I am going in my own order.

starting ‘the sort’ 1.12

With thanks to:  Tidying up

starting ‘the sort’

blindfolded or is that blindsided –
not quite, just attempting
a different fold
be gone squares
welcome rectangles
and an amazing amount
of found room…
though I kept them all
those T’s I treasure
maybe though tomorrow
I’ll choose to loose
the excess…
or repack them elsewhere
in storage to gain
a dresser draw.

got in the zen mode
of smooth and flip
hours went by…
I did choose one sweater
to give to charity and
tossed a few gross items
…even did three more draws
and found some lost items.
that was a bonus

Note: I might even have to buy the book…see inspiration link.

a haibun : addle up

a haibun:
addle up

there is a simple joy in the distraction
of putting a puzzle together.
find all the edge pieces,
bonus when you find a corner –
then putting the edge together.

is there any logic to the search
for what piece goes next?
does it really help your brain
to be active in such a way –
solving the little mysteries of joining.

and though not at all like a life lost
there is, after the euphoria of completion –
a simple sadness, a grey looming cloud,
because it is time to take all the
pieces apart and box them up again.
