A Cooling Down?

Nearby
Town broke
Records: four inches
of rain in one
Hour

Flash
Flood warnings
Reverberated all around
Our rain arrived after
Dusk

Hungry
Birds are
Enjoying the worms
Brought to the grassy
Surfaces

..By
The second
Thunder storm that
Swept through later this
Afternoon

empty bird-feeder
refilled after days away;
did the birds miss me?

Note: You know that saying ‘I need a vacation from my vacation’…
now to empty suitcases and do mounds of laundry…

big birds chaise little birds
though, truth
be told sometimes little does win

All shapes, sizes
And attitude; learn from

back to Watson pond after paying
respects to a small local burial ground

tent caterpillars emerge from the trees
damsel, dragonflies and a yellow and black
swallowtail butterfly flutter by

robins and crows are not impressed
seeing a green frog with a slight sunburn –
three swans are too far away to comment

kaeru = in Japanese means both frog and returning.

I tell Little Miss
when I whistle at the birds
that I say hello

hopefully they hear – thank you
for your beautiful singing

instead of thinking
there is the crazy lady
who feeds us birdseed

assistance is nice

made myself some toast and eggs
tossed a bit of crust for them

got some bread bits too
