Observing 20
Finally, Spring?
(haibun-type with Elfje)

Six twenty-eight this morning was the official time;
however Spring may be delayed as Winter hangs
on to the petticoat of warm hopes, like a child clinging
securely to their mother not wanting to let go for
fear of being forgotten, not ready to move forward.

Winters’
Tight grip
Seeks attention as
Mother Nature moves towards
Spring

Observing 12
Shelved Spring?
(Elfje series and katuata)

The
Crow Moon
was just setting
By seven close to
Dawn

The
Real feel
Temperature is ten
Fahrenheit, supposedly it’s nineteen
Degrees

Will
That lost
Hour bring spring
Weather Closer anytime soon?
No…

Tomorrow
We are
Expecting the most
Snow we’ve had all
Winter

Close to a foot is
Expected of the white flakes
Of this odd winter, this season

Observing 11
Algid Spring
(verse and katuata)

Most all of
yesterday’s snow
has melted…
Though some patches
linger in shaded areas
That do not
normally catch
the sun
even on warm days…

raw weather returns
to greet the beginning of
spring; yard work is now on hold

Love 28
Be-longing
(prose and Elfje)

I read in the paper that after just a day after his wife passed,
the old gentleman died the very next day of a broken heart ~
It was said that he did not want to live without her…

Faithful
Couples; for
You I wish
A heaven of forever
Togetherness

Love 27
Private…
(prose and Elfje)

We can share most any and everything ~
Yet the secrets of our hearts are ours alone.

Heart
Of muscle
(Or of thought)
You alone beat for
Me

Love 26
addressed?

are they tried and true;
oh the colors of the heart –
look smart, yet act dumb

Influenced
By emotiontions
What cloth can
hearts wear daring true
Colors?

Love 25
Adjudicate
(Elfje and haiku)

Inconsistency
Seems to
Be the distinguished
Hallmark of all earthly
Humanity

love becomes a deck shuffled

“The heart of a man is made to reconcile contradictions.”
-David (Home) Hume (1711-1776)
Scottish philosopher and historian

(Note: He changed the spelling of his name in 1734,
because of the fact that his surname Home,
pronounced Hume, was not known in England.)
