(g) LIGHT; opaque obstructions (renga series) (12.10)

“There are two kinds of light – the glow that illumines, and the glare that obscures.”
James Grover Thurber

LIGHT; opaque obstructions
(renga series)

light white flakes falling
so fine that the faint breeze will
delay their landing

there will be no rainbows from
crystals hanging in windows

no need for a ‘French
Toast’ store run… bread, milk and eggs;
where’s the snow shovel?

~
progress of the day
snowflakes grow larger, less wind
carpet of white grows

deliveries are still made
on the dark ribbon roadways

birds cluster feeder –
refilled when the shovels were
taken from the shed

~
tapered to nothing
the snow, yet temps fell faster
frosting the walkways

not must to push, sweep, shovel
that ice reflecting light rays

even in the morn –
bundled to get the paper;
as the sun poked sky

Note: I thought the quote fitting for a snow storm; light blocking light.
And this series was written over the length of the beginning, middle
and end of the first snowfall of significance this December.
Morning temp at 7:30 am 22 F or -5.5 C

This verse also fits this challenge: first snow

(g) LIGHT; Computer Coronary? (a ‘tau ku’ tale) (12.9)

LIGHT: Computer Coronary?
(a ‘tau ku’ tale)

the screen came up blank, dark
nothing –
left on too long, was it? deep sigh.

the laptop buttons glowed
sometimes…
did the motor need to cool down?

only thing left to do
was to
wait…would it cool down and revive?

the next step was to take
it to
where the warranty existed

hard to switch routines – at
least I
wasn’t completely out of the loop

after several hours
the screen
woke, accepting many updates

maybe the fan still needs
checking
but at least I can see the ‘light’

“At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person.
Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the
flame within us.” ~ Albert Schweitzer

I know that
the
light will blink, there

if I am
out;
message will tape…

your words will
light
up my evening

when we do
speak
over the wire…

when gone – I
long
for sharing light

(g) LIGHT; lagging (12.6)

LIGHT; lagging
(three haiku in themed series)

late, or not at all;
sun in winter oft forgets
to make a dawn rise

late, the cane out of
reach for support – who stumbles
as the mind closes

late, or not at all;
moonbeams reach for broken hearts
true romantics, sigh
