frog adventures 8
(a haibun)

one has to be careful hopping
where there are no sidewalks
where trucks and cars whiz by

eventually, just further down the road
crossing the Taunton/ Norton town lines
into a semi secret secluded wood…

where hunting by sight is all that is allowed
deer skip to birdsong and insect buzz freely wanting
to taste what juices lay beneath one’s uncovered skin

kaeru, into wood
Blueberry knoll; little bees
leave impressions

kaeru = in Japanese means both frog and returning.

The Blueberry Knoll Woodlands is at the end of Stanley Road off South Washington Street in the Blueberry Knoll development. Parking is in front of the gate on the dirt road at the turn-a-round. The road leads through wet and dry woods, mixed trees, shrubs, mosses and other plants until it reaches a detention pond planted with native wetland plants. Cart paths lead from the pond into surrounding woods
At least one bite anyway… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halictidae Sweat Bee

My other main blogs that my icon may or may not go to when I leave a comment:
Flash Fiction = Fiction or non… &  Longer Strands = longer verse
