temperate?
(a tanka)

another hot day
ended with the fluted notes
of a gentle rain

wilting leaves enjoy relief
flowers, fruit and the grass grows

Slinky Saturday
(a haibun)

slept in late, he made omelets then windy roads lead us to
places we’ve never been…

still trying to find a free standing cupboard, sideboard, or
cabinet for our kitchen…

a relaxing day for just the two of us. dinner out; courtesy of
two for one coupon, and one last errand…

he picked up some special glue and a new coloring book for
me, watched murder mystery…

the pace was slow and relaxing In the ninety degree heat –
didn’t even make five thousand steps…

rolling roads; passing
cattle, horses and chickens
round and round, and home

Shell on Tar Beach

Catbird lost an egg, a gift on my drive
Little Miss and I found while watering my
container gardens.

Size between the robin and bluebirds
eggs – a dark green blue color. Really hard
to tell by looking at posters on the net.

Another shell to wash and rinse and fill
With glue for Son of Son – to add to the
other two…natural wonders.

Though the egg might also have be
another robin’s egg…for in the hedge row
Robin mother bird sat when I went looking…

Only to scold me for getting too close!
I peeked in the nest that she briefly left –
To draw me away, to see three blue eggs.

Gray Catbird

When on the second link drag (right side)the nest and
egg image sidebar all the way down to see the best
image of what I found.
I know I have seen Catbirds at my bird feeder.

just more stuff

competent service folk make the day go by
easier when explaining then doing the
necessary repairs to make failed machines
run smoothly again
*
though less frequent these days as little
people grow bigger – it is still a
magic moment when they fall asleep
in your arms
*
seeking a repair to service the phone rings at
four in the morning, and as ‘he’ is on call;
the conversation banters back and forth…
the alarm still rings at six

Encounter

Did a bird drop its meal? Lonely
caterpillar
”””””””””’’””
on the sidewalk
(Adding steps to my count –
Made my 10,000 step goal…)
Back to the grass…you go
Less likely to be squashed
By heel or toe.
