Pawn?

A nonet has nine lines. The first line has nine syllables,
the second line eight syllables, the third line seven syllables, etc…
until line nine that finishes with one syllable.

(With quotes by famous folks
Whose last names start with the alphabet
Or at least have those ‘tricky letters’ –
U, Q, X & Y in them)

    Interesting poetic form …. and it seems to work very well with the sentiments expressed, and the inspired quote. And what’s even nifty is how the form lends itself to a graphic representation that in this case, looks slightly like an inverted chess piece.
