February 29 is often referred to as “Sadie Hawkins Day” signifying a gender role reversal,
such as a day when a woman proposes marriage to a man.

weren’t most holidays man made?)

Burgundy or Chardonnay?

Drink

Burgundy is a shade of reddish brown associated with the Burgundy wine
of the same name, which in turn is named after the Burgundy region of
France which in turn is named after the ancient Burgundians, a Germanic tribe.
The color burgundy is similar to other shades of dark red such as maroon,
cordovan, and oxblood, but differs from each of these in subtle ways.
For example, cordovan with its origin in equine leather used for shoes
has a slightly fairer, lighter brown color whilst oxblood, typically
used in description of clothing, in particular leather, has both a much
richer red and a little more blue.
The first recorded use of “burgundy” as a color name in English was in 1881.
“Burgundies”—are dry red wines made from Pinot noir grapes
and white wines made from Chardonnay grapes.

to 1695–1705. …The ox blood was used as a pigment to dye fabric, leather and paint.
…commonly described as a dark red with purple and brown undertones….It is sometimes
called “cordovan” although this term more properly refers to a particular type of horse leather.
The first recorded use of cordovan as a color name in English was in 1925.

Word Origin and History for auburn,n: early 15c.,
from Old French auborne, from Medieval Latin alburnus “off-white, whitish,”
from Latin albus “white” (see alb ). It came to English meaning “yellowish-white, flaxen,”
but shifted 16c. to “reddish-brown”under influence of Middle English
brun “brown,” which also changed the spelling.
*
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auburn_hair Auburn encompasses the color maroon,
but so too do chestnut and burgundy. In contrast with the two,
auburn is more red in color, while chestnut is more brown,
and burgundy is more purple; chestnut hair is also
often referred to as “chestnut-brown”.
