Heroes a haibun 2.17s

Heroes a haibun    2.17s/g

There was no sense to scream
They did what they had to do
The uniform they all wore united them.
They gave up their lives to save others.
The Immortal Chaplains.
On February 3, 1943.
The USAT Dorchester was struck –
by a U=boat off the coast of Newfoundland.
And the transport sank.

voices joined by prayer
all united by duty
please remember them

Note:The first line of the haiku is traditionally over by 1 syllable.
And it will stay that way.
