Lady Bug?

Lady Bug?

lady beetle
black and red
land on my hand
give me some luck
let me count your dots
are you youthful with just two
or are you a grandmother like me
with twenty three?
~~~~~~~
while I guess I can
say that I have never counted that
many spots, I have seen some
ladies with lots of spots
in shades of yellow
and orange too,
besides red
and black
glowing beetle flies
into the night under stars
sharing their love songs
endearing?
endearing?
the young buck knows
where the creek is low; first
through the path I made, and
mow by the gully and then
after a leisurely stroll
across my back yard
and around the debris piles
and newly stacked wood
a long drink on a hot day –
then into the little wood
and tall grasses growing
on the utility easement
a quick glimpse of magic in the
afternoon, while on the phone
without a camera handy, you’ll
just have to use your imagination
Nursery Twist
Nursery Twist
twinkle twinkle little bug
if I could you’d get a hug
so glad to see you are still here
flickering by my window near
who needs silver, who needs gold
when in my hand I can hold
lady beetles and lightning bugs
and have birds nesting in my shrubs
cardinals, doves, wrens and robins
crackle, crow, and jays a bobin’
in my yard of grasses green
flutter my heart at this nature scene
as Dorothy said while kicking her heels,
(thanks for the adventure and the meals)
(no matter where Toto and I roam)
There is no place, no place like home
Note: after being gone for about ten daze –
It is good to be ‘home’.
Note: for me two weeks, for my hubby almost a month without
seeing rain from the sky. Though there was a slight spritz
on the way to the airport – not even enough to put the rental
car wipers on. While waiting for the shuttle to take us back
to the car in long term parking… the sky let loose!
OK not quite to prompt. But so glad to be home –
now comes the fun part catching up on house chores. 🙂
A Puente: Sprucing Up
A Puente (bridge):
Sprucing Up
When there is no more space to add more rooms – new
Furniture and art for some of the five hundred units
The hammer bangs on the walls next door to my hotel room…
~ change is inevitable ~
The hammer will bang when I get home maybe in every room
Where empty walls have waited long enough –
For photos that that were taken down from my dining room.
Note: today is a travel day, so I’ll be relatively quiet…
up for grabs
a haibun
up for grabs?
not a good Monday for someone…
first two police vehicles in the hotel
parking lot – then an ambulance
heard a slight commotion on my floor
quickly opened and shut the door
uniforms of blue, two
hauling off a gent in cuffs
after daily room service…
maybe the maid saw something?
but then we’ll never really know…
just one more day and night
at this locale… I know small cities
have their issues too – even next door.
but somehow I just feel safer
in familiar surroundings.
fate, some strings are cut
sooner than later, your pair
who holds the sharp blades?
