Stepping In and Out

IN
We’ve taken boarders, well free loaders really
Two bodies, each with four feet
Once the size of half dollar coins
My daughter-in-laws twelve year old
Turtles are the size of sandwich plates

Out
Well worn, no longer useful
Haven’t seen toe or heel for years
Would not do anyone else a fair service,
Two sets of boots and a pair of sneakers
Make one final trip to the trash

Lasting Impressions

The Dragon has given me a new found strength…
We all play games with ourselves…The last can of soda stands…
I will not get another case until I have recycled all my empties
In the box by the grocers’ that gives to charity and credits my account
For discount coupons…some I use, some I give away

Afloat

(Jan 29, 2012)

A day in motion attempting to reach the distant shore
Of organizational calm – The moon tugs at the tides
Stuff gets shifted, trashed and gifted
A night to gain access to the lifesaver I have thrown myself…

West Side Window View

While true spring is still distant and harvest still far
The halo of the dawn, the sun slow in its’ winter rising
Is alighting the tops of the leafless yet budding trees
And reminds me of the warm color of fresh fruit –
Specifically the glowing fuzz yellow-oranges of peaches

A Triple Play

I
Sometimes you have to sit back
And let problems solve themselves
II
Let the managers manage
Offer only what you are willing and able
III
Sometimes even when the day seems ordinary,
Use your best china to set the table

Shades of White

Yesterdays sun defrosted the crust
Of ice that layered the swamp
I think the geese where happy to have a warmer place to rest
The gulls prefer the height of the parking lot lamp posts
When they are not decorating the hood of my car…

In Memorandum…

(…haiku honoring a friends loss…)

a mourning morning
we all pine when love is lost
softly the doves coo
