  1. This is a favorite of mine . . . though I’m at a bit of a loss to say ‘exactly’ why. Hmm . . .

Color is important to me – I prefer dreamlike/surreal/exaggerated colors – and Quixote is someone I identify with. Perhaps these are parts of why I enjoyed this one so much.

    Great verse!

  2. hooray for windmills! I love this elfje – it really evokes the motion and stillness (both equally important) of a windmill. Thanks also for the comment on my post, and the link to this page :)

  3. I liked the nod to Don Quixote, also your tilting windmills. I will, hopefully, not annoy you with a question. Did they have pennies? Does the “cents” connect with the poem? I have no idea about the parameters of the Elfje’s! Just wondering…

    • The Elfje is a five line poem, L1 =one word, L2=two words, L3= 3 words, L4= 4 words, L5 = 1 word.
Not usually acrostics, I think I invented that form. I tend to mix forms. Just because I can and I like to play with words. ‘Cents’ was the word I played with (also because I had just done one the day before witht he word ‘Sense. Cents as in payment in regards to sanity perhaps. Like Van Gogh cutting off his ear? But it could work in a few different ways.

      • The payment part makes sense (ha ha) and cents it is! Poor Don Quixote paid dearly by the loss of his mind and his not realizing that the servant was not Dulcinea but a barkeep. His poor eyesight was definitely another thing that is often mentioned. Thanks again for the explanation!
