perhaps just to get closer to the bird feeder
the cardinal pair travel swiftly from the north
pine to the south, to be closer to the feeder,
though I don’t see them there… they just
rush back to north pine to their nest which is I
am guessing about a third down from the top.
a late afternoon snack or an early dinner while
the snow falls and the grey of what was this first
January snow day ends in a darker after dusk…

I have a serious story about cardinals representing hope in my life. I will someday post about it. I find cardinals particularly beautiful against a green branch of an evergreen or the white snow on a black branch.
