I slept through your alarm, but
not through your goodbye kiss. And
I watched the headlights of your car
…ease… out… of …the …driveway…
You’ve forgotten to put out the trash.
I briefly visit the silver frosted scene
outside, taking the can to the curb…
in the dark of the beginning
…of my dutiful day…

  1. I really like the loving but commonplace feel of this poem – like it’s about a love that is ingrained in the daily routine of your life. It’s very moving, with a peaceful atmosphere.
