up before dawn
a change in routine
after a fast (not slow)
have to have blood taken
an investment of sorts for
the new health insurance -
they want to know if I’m alive
I would gladly tell them, but
would they believe me if
I were to tell them I
wear my heart on
my sleeve? – I
think though
they’ll still
want my
blood

So neat how you’re writing literally…given the conversation @ Margo’s but how this can be metaphoric, too. I love the shape…a drop of blood. Nice, Jules!!
excellent usage of language – really liked fast not slow…! made me chuckle – did me good!
At the vet with my dog, she is the one getting her blood drawn. And she definitely wears her heart on her sleeve. Lovely piece Jules.
